I've installed the radiator in my 67 Camaro that has a big block (427) and have about a month of driving. Here is my summary review:
Installation - Installation went fairly smooth. I had to contact Support several times for clarification and advice. The shroud fits snug on the radiator but there is a pretty good sized gap at the bottom, which I filled to reduce air getting sucked in through the gap vs radiator. Installation of the radiator was easy. The thermostat was an issue. The first one didn't work (fans did not turn on when temp reached 185F+). Support helped diagnose and sent me a new thermostat. The second thermostat broke in half when installed so Support sent me a third thermostat, which worked.
Operation - The fans turn on when temp reaches 193F (+/-) vs 185F. Not an issue except if the day is 90F ++, the water temp may go up to 200F+ before the fans can bring the temperature down. I installed a switch to turn the fans on early if I'm driving on a hot day.
I have not been stuck in traffic yet on a 90F day but I suspect the radiator/fans will keep the water temp around 190F - 200F. A little warm for my comfort but as long as it does not go above 205F, I'm good. When air temp is 80F, water temp stays around 180F - 185F, i.e., fans will always be on.
Support - I worked with George who was exceptional. I would give him 6 stars out of 5 if I could.
All in all, a good experience. A 4 out of 5 stars due to thermostat issue, gap at the bottom between the shroud and radiator and fans not turning on until temp reaches 193F vs 185F. Plus I expected the 3 row core radiator to keep the water temp just a little cooler. In hind sight, I probably should have got the 4 row core but I live in a fairly cool climate so I don't think I'll have any issues.
Support rocks! Thanks for all the help.
